The Wine
OFFLEY LACRIMA is a suprising, extremely rich and very tasteful white Porto, a unique jewel created for demanding consumers by
Offley, the prestigious brand that combines modernity with almost three centuries of experience.
Tasting Notes
OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO'S rich yellow golden hue anticipates a very intense bouquet dominated by floral notes and by the flavours
arising from its ageing in wood, the 'noble oxidation' that adds to it notes of dry fruit, peanut butter and honey. With an increased richness and complexity, the wine reached a fine balance between acidity and sweetness, complemented by a long and elegant finish.
Serving Suggestions
OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO should be served chilled (10º C-12º C) with dry fruit or fresh and rich desserts such as papaw ice-cream with sultanas and a touch of honey.
Storing
OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO is ready for drinking and does not require decanting. The bottle should be kept upright, protected from light and humidity, at a constant temperature (16º C-18º C).
Open Bottle Shelf Life
Once open, it should be consumed within 4 weeks.
Varieties
OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO is made from a selection of quality grapes from the white vine varieties recommended for the Douro, such
as Malvasia Fina, Códega, Viosinho and Gouveio, picked at their optimum maturation and richness stage.
Winemaking
OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO is made in accordance with Porto's traditional method. The hand-picked grapes undergo stalk-removal
and crushing; fermentation then follows, with skin maceration in order to extract the best components. The addition of grape alcohol sets the balance between the wine's body and bouquet, and its ideal moment is set by the oenology team after strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities, a very important factor in this style of port, and one which varies according to vine variety, maturation stage and the final high sweetness required.
Ageing
The wine remains in the Douro after the vintage and is taken to Vila Nova de Gaia in the following spring, after having undergone
transfers and corrections. In the centuries-old Offley lodges the wines mature in oak wood casks, under Porto's traditional system. Throughout the years the wines are carefully transferred, tasted and analysed and the final blend is prepared always keeping OFFLEY LACRIMA PORTO'S unique characteristics. Wines are carefully selected between 3 and 5 years of age, providing for an average age of 4 years. The final blend is filtered and cold-stabilised prior to bottling. It is ready for drinking.
