Serving Suggestions
FERREIRA WHITE 10 YEARS OLD PORTO is a white Porto delicious as an aperitif, served slightly chilled, but also excellent with various starters, such as «foie-gras» and strong cheese, or even rich desserts such as «crème».
Storing
The bottle should be kept upright, avoiding direct light and excessive humidity and ideally under constant temperature (about 16 - 18º C).
Open Bottle Shelf Life
When opened it does not require decanting and maintains fresh tasting notes for about 16 weeks.
Varieties
FERREIRA WHITE 10 YEARS OLD PORTO is made from wines from traditional and recommended Douro white grapes, predominantly Malvasia Fina, Códega, Rabigato and Gouveio.
Winemaking
Hand-picked grapes were vinified under the traditional Porto method. Controlled fermentation of musts took place in stainless steel vats and was interrupted through the addition of wine alcohol, which results in high sugar and alcohol contents in the finished product.
Ageing
The wines that make up FERREIRA WHITE 10 YEARS OLD PORTO'S final blend remain in the Douro after the vintage and are taken to Vila Nova de Gaia the following spring. On arrival they are transferred to oak casks and are subjected to numerous transfers, analyses and tastings, which make it possible not only to monitor their maturation but, most importantly, to intervene through blendings, refreshings and corrections whenever tasting so determines. The final blend is generally obtained using wines of between 8 and 15 years of age, so as to obtain an average age of 10 years and to maintain the consistency of FERREIRA WHITE 10 YEARS OLD PORTO'S quality and unique style.
